2024-2025 Carver Application Process
Carver School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology
Grades 3 – 6
Each year in February, invitations for the next school year are mailed out to DCS students that receive qualifying scores on their Winter or Spring MAP assessment.
Slots are filled on a first come, first served basis. Slots are limited per grade. Applications should be submitted to the Carver MST office. They will be dated and time stamped once received. Hand-delivery is the preferred method for returning applications.
24-25 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION
ADMISSION
Any student currently enrolled in the Dothan City School System who meets the eligibility requirements, may apply for admission to Carver School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology. Please read the following information and complete the application in full.IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
***Transportation services are not provided for students attending the Carver School.***
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
For Dothan City Schools Students:
Students who are currently enrolled in a Dothan City School must score in the 61st percentile or above for academic achievement in Math on the MAP Growth Assessment during the winter or spring exam to receive an invitation to attend Carver MST.For students outside of Dothan City Schools and still reside in Alabama:
Alabama students who score a 3 or 4 in Math and Reading on the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) exam may submit a request for enrollment in Carver MST.For students residing outside of Alabama but moving into the DCS School System:
Students interested in applying for enrollment into Carver MST may take the state approved benchmark screener for math. Students who score in the above average percentile or higher in Math on the screener may receive an invitation to attend Carver MST.SELECTION PROCESS
● All invitations and applications are mailed out the day prior to the start of the invitation period. As applications are received, they will be dated and time stamped in the CMST Office. Available slots will be filled as applications are received.
Hand-delivery is the preferred method for returning applications.● Acceptance letters will be mailed out by the end of March. Seats will be offered by grade levels as space permits. In the event there are more acceptance applicants than available seats, students will be placed on a waitlist. All acceptance applications received after the deadline will automatically be added to the waitlist.
● Any student outside of Dothan City Schools who meets the requirements and applies for admission to Carver MST will be automatically added to the waitlist.
● All qualified Dothan City School students will have priority placement on the waitlist over students from outside the school district.
● Students that forgo their eligibility must meet the requirements for the next qualifying year.ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Services are provided to all students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) who meet the requirements for services.
Language accommodations will be given to all students whose primary language is not English who meet the requirements for services.24-25 INVITATION TIME FRAME AND DEADLINES

TERMINATION OF ENROLLMENT FOR STUDENTS OF CARVER MST
All students enrolled at Carver MST are required to follow the Dothan City School Code of Conduct.ATTENDANCE
Students who accumulate 10 unexcused absences or 10 unexcused tardies within a school year will be administratively withdrawn from Carver MST and returned to their zoned school. Students administratively withdrawn for attendance may not return to Carver MST.BEHAVIOR
Students who receive four Class II infractions or one Class III infraction will be administratively withdrawn from Carver MST and returned to their zoned school immediately. Students administratively withdrawn for behavior infractions may not return to Carver MST.ACADEMICS
Students who fail the academic school year and are retained from promotion to the next grade will be administratively withdrawn from Carver MST and returned to their zoned school to repeat the grade. Students administratively withdrawn for academic performance may return back to Carver MST if they meet the qualifying criteria for admission the following year. -

Carver MST Withdrawal Procedures:
If you would like to withdraw your child from Carver School, please come to the Carver School office to complete a withdrawal form. You will be asked to show proper ID.
